Dave #4
Dave #4 was originally intended to be the lower section of a flying robot, however, he was extremely heavy, so heavy in fact he could barley support his own weight. He could only carry enough power to run his brain (DIMM PC) for about ½ hour. Not enough time to make him useful for any thing. Dave was constructed from 6061 1/8 inch aluminum plate, and 1/8 inch 90 degree angle stock. The DIMM PC handled all of the high level functions including software development. The 2 PIC micro controllers handled all of the motors and sensor input. I learned a lot about how not to build a robot during Dave's construction!
